Christmas commitments to see family, working those days many have off in between bank holidays and some typical winter weather combined to reduce the opportunity for cycling, especially my desire for any multi-day bikepacking adventures. So I bridged bikepacking with touring to get some practice for future adventures.
Sometimes you can spend your whole life waiting for other people to be free, to be ready or to turn up. We probably miss out on many of our best experiences due to a desire to be accompanied. I was chatting to a neighbour recently when he noticed the disc brakes on my winter bike. He’s a commissaire for British Cycling, who have recently announced that discs will be permitted at British domestic road racing events for the 2018 season, so he was interested to discuss this “new” technology.
